Kathy Barranco - Designer
Kathy McCarthy got to Texas because the Air Force said
so. Her father’s career had taken her and her
10 siblings to England and many other cities in the
US before the Randolph AFB assignment. Kathy finished
high school and college at Incarnate Word, taught middle
school students at Kirby Junior High for one year then
married Captain Ben Barranco, a Chicago native, in 1972.
She and Ben started their real estate and development
business, Ivy Oaks Properties in 1975, and have been
operating it in the City of Garden Ridge every since.
Working with families over the past 33 years provided
a wealth of information about what they wanted, needed,
could afford, and dreamed of finding in neighborhoods
and houses. Trying to satisfy those needs wants and
dreams while raising their three children has kept Ben,
Kathy and Ivy Oaks Properties busy—most recently
with the gated communities of Trophy Oaks and Wild Wind
in Garden Ridge.
The opportunity to work with her daughter, Jinny on
the design and consultation with builders on custom
homes has been an exciting development in Kathy’s
real estate career. “It is fun to work with my
Texas born and bred child with her energy, style and
extraordinary understanding of the nuts and bolts of
construction. My “east coast” background,
and classic design aesthetic blended with Jinny’s
more clean-lined, and contemporary viewpoint results
in some great conversations, and some beautiful spaces.” |
